Stephen Hawking reveals AI could spell the end of mankind

Prof Stephen Hawking, a British scientist of the greatest eminence, warned that if we pursue the development of thinking machines our very existence could be in jeopardy.

The end of the human race as we know it could be just around the corner as artificial intelligence (AI) is developing faster than ever before. Even the technology the professor uses is a form of AI. His voice control box was developed and designed by Intel and thinks the words it thinks Prof Hawking is about to use.

Although Mr Hawking is impressed by the progress we have achieved so far, he warns that thinking machines will eventually overtake humans. The trouble with us mere mortals is that we are inhibited by very slow biological progress. After all, how long did it take us just to start walking upright? A machine has the ability to develop and become intelligent at an alarming rate of speed.

Clever machinery will also mean many jobs will now be filled by artificial intelligent machines. Meanwhile, Prof Hawking is looking forward to using his new machine, which also had a British company working on board, SwiftKey.

Touching Us - Ode to Salvador Dali

By Debbie

Touching Us
Clamped Brushes, perceptive eerie insight, let us think
Moving us forward visual rushes, oblivion or correction do we love

Feeding Us a purpose or a pleasure, or a sin
A world that knows no boundaries calls us in
Mocking us delinquent and retarded, we'll be reminded of the things we'll never see

Coaxing Us, keep us happy for we may be the ones to make you heard
When your canvasses are faded and your name is just a distant word, a genius of bygone days
Did you realize what you had, or did you just feel different?
Maybe lonely, maybe mad,

I wish that I had met you although our worlds were miles apart
But I think we could have been good friends, your paintings touched my heart
I read you were a lunatic, a lost and troubled soul
I pray you didn't suffer in this way

You were a special person who has earned a special role
And your art will live on forever and a day

P.S.

I look forward to meeting you in heaven and I'll introduce you to my Granddad, who is also very special xx

Deb, A huge fan

Great Apps for your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad

Review: Wild Skies

Wild Skies is a retro adventure that is fast-paced and has a level of skill that will challenge the best of you out there. The soundtrack is thrilling and the gameplay experience is equally lavish and thrilling. In many ways it’s a bit like going back and playing those old retro games; you know the ones that had incredible game play ease, were not too challenging or complex and were always loud and in your face.

In Wild Skies there are two planes flying over the ocean which will both face dangerous enemy missile attacks. Your task is insanely challenging in that you must steer your plane through the missiles and make sure you do not get hit. However, there is a way of fighting back against the missiles by picking up and raising your shields to destroy the missiles; this works by directly flying your plane at the missiles as the shields act as an ant-aircraft missile destroyer.

Wild Skies is your typical arcade style game that challenges you to take it one step further each time. Just remember to pick up your shields and defend your plane against the missiles and see if you can get more points than your friends and family.

The action is never ending and you will always be flying high speed, constantly avoiding missiles, always being forced to use your shields and regularly challenging your mates to get a better score than you. Right away you will be able to see just how similar these characteristics are to the old style arcade flying games so often played out in the eighties.

Wild Skies and its Features
Wild Skies has many features and not least the retro-style graphics which give the game the real feel that you are playing something out of yesteryear when game really were good. It is incredibly easy to play, so it will not put off many who would normally not bother with such complexities so often found in modern gaming experiences.

As the game progresses you will find there are more types of missiles that are sent out to attack you. Moreover, if you are one of those that love to play these games on long car journeys while sat in the back, you will be pleased to learn you can play offline. Your high score will automatically be updated once you log in and play again whilst back online.
